AGRICULTURAL CHARITY STEPS UP TO KEEP BIDDENDEN TRACTORFEST ALIVE
The Kent County Agricultural Society has today announced that it will facilitate the continued running of Biddenden Tractorfest, with the event set to continue at the original Woolpack Corner site on the weekend of 15th & 16th August 2020.
After this year’s event, Sue Boon, Chairman of Biddenden Tractorfest, and the organisers agreed that the event had reached a scale that could no longer be run efficiently by volunteers alone and that sadly it would not be held in 2020. Following talks with the Kent County Agricultural Society, it was agreed that the Society could take on Biddenden Tractorfest, aiming to continue the event in keeping with the idea of how it was originally set up with existing volunteers still forming much of the organising committee.
The Kent County Agricultural Society already run four agricultural events throughout the year including their showcase event, the Kent County Show, as well as the Heritage Transport Show.
Biddenden Vineyard celebrates 50 years of English wine
One of our sponsors, Biddenden Vineyards’ 50th anniversary year kicked off last month with a Biddenden sparkling wine & Kentish afternoon tea and evening celebration for over 400 specially invited guests, including Tractorfest’s Sue Boon and Barbara Ellison, who have been part of the vineyards’ journey over the last 5 decades.
Tractorfest Dog Shows
A recent study of 2,000 adults found that dog owners walk an average of 870 miles a year, which not only revealed they tend to be fitter than non-dog owners, but that they also have overall improved levels of mental health and reduced stress levels ( source The Independent). Most recently the profile photo of Biddenden Community page was changed to display a number of Biddenden dog owners with their dogs – brought together in one place for a photoshoot. And what a healthy looking bunch they were too.
Rocking it at Tractorfest in 2019
Anyone who came to Biddenden Tractorfest and Country Fair last year cannot have missed some of the wonderful performances from the Rockits (formally the known as the Tuesdays) and the Rubies rock and pop Choirs founded and run by Max Wilson. Combining the feel good factor of singing, meeting new friends and doing things never dreamed possible, they rock it to their own original arrangements of uplifting songs past and present.
