Tractorfest’s “slice” of Community Life
Ask anyone if they visited the Tea Tent in the centre of Tractorfest last year and you’ll notice a slightly guilty expression as they own up to visiting it more than once. And in a few cases… quite a few times.
It was run with military precision by Biddenden’s Jeanette Oatway, who kicked off the weekend with 10 volunteers stationed in the church, receiving delicious cakes from over 40 volunteer bakers and boxing all the cakes in readiness for transportation to the showfield.
With 45 volunteers helping to run the tent – serving, clearing/washing up (lots of it) and making drinks, that most happy band served over 130 cakes (1,300 slices) and served 2,000 cups of tea/coffee over two days. Fortnum and Mason had nothing on the ‘Village Tea Tent’. So by popular demand they will be the ‘icing on the cake’ again at Tractorfest 2018.
If you would like to donate a cake or by doing a fun two hour shift during two days in August please contact Jeannette on jeannetteoatway@btinternet.com
